Prayer! What is it that keeps us on our knees. Is it concern for a child? A sick loved one? Difficulty at work ?The dying? Prayer is the essence of conversing with God, our Father.

Here is a quote by Max Lucado from his book "Outlive Your Life" -

Did God call us to preach without ceasing? Or teach without ceasing? Or have committee meetings without ceasing? Or sing without ceasing? No, but he did call us to "pray without ceasing" (1 Thess 5:17).
Did Jesus declare: My house shall be called a house of study? Fellowship? Music? A house of exposition? A house of activities? No, but he did say, "My house will be called a house of prayer" Mark 11:17."

"Devote yourselves to prayer with an alert mind and a thankful heart. Pray for us, too that God will give us many opportunities to speak about his mysterious plan concerning Christ." Col 4:2-3 NLT

"God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, you created all that exists, and you sustain all through your infinite wisdom and boundless power. Yet you invite me to come to you in prayer, boldly and with the expectation that you will hear and answer me. Teach me, Lord to take full advantage of this privilege, especially in regard to reaching others with your love. Give me a heart for those who have yet to experience the fullness of your grace, and prompt me to pray for them and for their welfare. In Jesus name, amen."

As Soon As You Begin to Pray
James 5:16 Daniel 9:23

Prayer sets spiritual forces in motion, although the effect is often invisible, perhaps for a long time.

In the first year of the reign of Darius, Daniel was reading and reflecting about the seventy years of Jerusalem's Iying in ruins. He turned to God in "earnest prayer and supplication with fasting and sackcloth and ashes," confessing Israel's sins and beseeching God for forgiveness and restoration. The angel Gabriel came close to him in the hour of evening sacrifice, "flying swiftly."

"As you were beginning your supplications a word went forth" (Dn 9:23 NEB), he said. The answer was already beginning to be processed when the prayer was offered. It took a very long time. Periods of weeks and years for the nation, and times of mourning, solitude, weakness, and fear on Daniel's part were required before the answer could come to pass.

We should take heart from Gabriel's message. Though our prayers seem feeble and sometimes appear to have gone unheard, a word has gone forth. Spiritual agents from the throne room of the King of kings are mobilized against spiritual forces from the headquarters of evil, and there will be ultimate victory.

"Tremendous power is made available through a good man's earnest prayer" James 5:16 JBP

My Anchor Man

"Now this is the commandment, the statues and the rules that the Lord your God commanded me to teach you, that you may do them in the land to which you are going over, to possess it. that you may fear the Lord your God, you and your son and your son's son, by keeping all his statures and his commandments, which I command you, all the days of your life, and that your days may be long. " Deuteronomy 6: 1-2

Recently, when I was driving, I heard a message on the radio. It was about the Anchor Man. The more I listened to this program, I was hearing about my Anchor Man.

My admiration goes beyond understanding. I've seen this walked out in the life of my own Anchor Man. A man of integrity and honesty and faithfulness.

God always has His men. He always has a remnant of faithful men who love God and are anchored on Jesus Christ.

An Anchor man is a man who will have no other gods before them.

Men who will not make graven images. They love the Lord their God with all of their heart, soul and mind.

Men who will not take the Lord's name in vain.

Men who are motivated to work, but not so much that they won't take one day of rest.

Men who honor their fathers and mothers, and are helping to care for them.

Men who will not murder.

Men who will not steal things, whether it is possessions or someone's character.

Men who will not bear false witness.

Men who are a one-woman man.

Men who do not covet but are content and thankful for the blessings God has given them.

I am thankful for the covenant relationship I have with my Anchor Man. I have been blessed to learn from this man who places Christ first in his life every single day.

So this week I am wishing him a Happy Birthday!

Isn't there something just so sweet and tender about a rose in your garden?

I come to the garden alone, while the dew is still on the roses,
And the voice I hear, falling on my ear,
The Son of God discloses.

And he walks with me, and he talks with me, and he tells me I am his own,

And the joy we share as we tarry there,
None other has ever known.

"In the Garden" C. Austin Miles

As we meet and touch, each day,
The many travelers on our way,
Let every such brief contact be
A glorious, helpful ministry;
The contact of the soil and seed,
Each giving to the other's need,
Each helping on the other's best,
And blessing, each, as well as blest.

There are times when the fog of life covers over and hides the truth that sets us free. There is a heaviness that brings defeat and despair. When we are so low, we give voice to our struggles and only see our self-interests. We can make a conscience decision to tune out the natural response, and tune into the super-natual realm as revealed through the Word of God.

Prov 18:21. "Death and life are in the power of the tongue."

The words we speak either bind or loose those ministering spirits mentioned in the 1st chapter of Hebrews.
Put voice to the Word of God in faith. Don't put voice to your fear and unbelief. When you hide the Word of God in your heart and then speak it out as confession of faith, you put ministering angels in motion.

OUR GOD IS ABLE. I claim the WORD of God that GREATER is HE that is IN me, then he who is in the world. MY GOD is the GOD of Elijah, Samson, David, Joab, Jashobeam, Eleazar, Shammah, Benaiah, Abishai and Paul

OUR GOD IS ABLE TO DO EXCEEDING ABUNDANTLY ABOVE ALL THAT WE ASK OR THINK Ephesians 3:20
